ANDERSON — Five people were arrested for underage drinking and a resident was charged with contributing to the delinquency of a minor early Thursday morning at a party in the 1300 block of Fletcher Street.
Among those arrested were at least three Anderson University students.
Keith Thomas, 23, an AU senior, was arrested for furnishing alcohol to minors. A probable cause affidavit listed Thomas as a resident of the Fletcher Street home.
Two AU students, ages 19 and 20, were arrested for underage drinking, according to affidavits. One of them is listed on AU’s website as a member of the Ravens football team.
The affidavits stated that Anderson police responded to complaints about loud music at the house. Officers saw about 30 people in the house and “most were Anderson University students who had been drinking,” the affidavit said.
According to the university’s website, all students, regardless of age, are prohibited from using alcohol on and off campus. Those who violate the policy are “subject to disciplinary action.”
AU spokesman Chris Williams said the school would cooperate with the police department. Williams noted the university does not disclose information regarding disciplinary actions, and he declined further comment.
Three other men, all age 20, were also arrested for underage drinking, but it was unclear whether they are AU students.
Thursday was the last day of the university’s semester. AU’s commencement ceremony is at 3 p.m. Saturday.
