Police: Argument likely caused car rollover near Chesterfield

CHESTERFIELD, Ind. —  An argument between a teenage driver and her front-seat passenger likely caused the vehicle to roll over onto its roof, police said.

Seventeen-year-old Alexis Flynn, of Anderson, was arguing with her front-seat passenger, while driving a silver 2001 Pontiac Sunfire west on 4500 block of East 150 North near Chesterfield, Madison County Sheriff’s Department Sgt. Brian Bell said.

At just after 3:30 p.m., the car left the road on the north side, flipping onto its roof in a nearby tree line.

Bell said the argument likely caused the crash, and they believe the front-seat passenger may have grabbed the wheel.

When police arrived, that passenger had left the scene.

Flynn and her backseat passenger, 18-year-old Shianne Bishop, had minor injuries.

Flynn was taken to St. Vincent Anderson Regional Hospital for minor bruises and abrasions. Bishop had a cut on the upper part of her left arm, bruises and contusions.

Bell said the Sheriff’s Department was looking for the passenger who fled.
