---- — ANDERSON — Police have wrapped up the investigation of an accident that seriously injured a toddler on Tuesday.

According to Anderson Police Department spokesman Joel Sandefur, investigators have determined Jaha'mariyae Burks, 3, ran out in front of a 2001 Chevrolet Impala driven by Michael Watson, 32, of Anderson, in the 1800 block of Sheridan Street at about 8 p.m. that night.

The young girl was transported by lifeline helicopter to Riley Children's Hospital in Indianapolis after the accident and remains in serious condition, though her injuries are not life-threatening.

Watson, who stopped to help Burks and called 911, told police at the scene that he didn't see the girl before the collision.

Sandefur said Watson was determined to not be at fault in the accident. Police are still awaiting a toxicology report on Watson's blood but aren't anticipating anything unusual. He was ticketed for failure to show proof of insurance.
