Woman wanted by multiple agencies leads police on short chase

ANDERSON, Ind. — A woman wanted by two other agencies led county deputies on a short traffic pursuit Friday morning.

Jill Shallenberger, 30, of Anderson, is in custody after the short chase that started at about 6 a.m. and ended with her vehicle in a yard near the intersection of 60th Street and Ridge Road on the city’s south side. She faces charges of possession of a controlled substance and resisting law enforcement — both felonies — and driving while suspended.

Shallenberger was also wanted out of Marion City Court on charges of false informing and driving while suspended, and Grant County on a charge of resisting arrest.

According to a press release from Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson, a deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on the woman’s vehicle at 60th Street and Madison Avenue. Shallenberger reportedly took off, heading west, and continued until her car went off the road and into a yard near Ridge Road, coming to a stop after barely striking a tree in the yard.

Shallenberger has several previous arrests and convictions, according to public records. In 2005, she was convicted of receiving stolen auto parts, a Class C felony, and in 2009 was convicted of escape from detention, a Class D felony. She has also been wanted in Madison County for a charge of conversion since 2012.

As of Friday afternoon, Shallenberger was being housed in Madison County Jail on $5,000 bond.
