Man receives 18-year sentence on incest charge

ANDERSON, Ind. — A man who pleaded guilty to incest earlier this month was sentenced to 18 years in the Department of Correction on Monday.

Jesse W. Imel, 32, of Anderson, will serve all 18 years in prison, forgoing any suspension as part of his plea agreement, and prosecutors dropped two counts of child molest and dissemination of matter harmful to minors.

Madison Circuit Court 4 Judge David Happe, who handed down the sentence, said the case went into jury selection on May 2 but Imel pleaded guilty before going into trial.

According to the probable cause affidavit of the incident, Imel’s 8-year-old daughter approached her mother in June 2012 and accused Imel of molesting her over a period of at least a year, and one time attempting to have sex with her. She said the abuse started when she turned 7.

The daughter also accused Imel of trying to make her watch pornographic movies at least 15 times over that period.
