Man injured after losing control of moped

ANDERSON — A Madison County man suffered minor injuries after wrecking his moped Saturday evening.

Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson said that Mark E. Hunsberger, 49, of rural Madison County, was westbound on County Road 400 North when he lost control of his moped, fell to the ground and struck his head in the 9500 block around 7 p.m. Saturday.

Hunsberger was transported by ambulance to St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood for an abrasion to his shoulder and a laceration to his head.

It was the second accident involving a two-wheeled vehicle that the Sheriff’s Department has investigated in two days.

On Friday night, Richard P. Hovart, 44, of Elwood, was transported to St. Vincent in Indianapolis with a serious head injury after his scooter struck a metal box on Indiana 37 near Elwood.
