Police: Man's truck smashed into pole, tree, basketball goal, garage

CHESTERFIELD — An Anderson man was hospitalized Thursday after the truck he was driving left the roadway, smashed into a utility pole, a tree and a basketball goal pole before coming to a stop in someone's garage.

According to a press release from Madison County Sheriff's Department Major Brian Bell, 38-year-old Clifton D. Kreegar was taken by ambulance to Community Hospital Anderson with complaints of back pain after the accident, which happened in the 3300 block of East County Road 150 North.

According to the release, the accident happened at about 3 p.m., when the white 2000 Chevrolet S-10 driven by Kreegar left the roadway for an unknown reason. The truck was traveling east and continued off the north side of the road, colliding with and snapping a utility pole, striking a tree, a basketball goal and crashing to a stop into the garage of a nearby home.

On Friday, Bell said there was no update on the accident and the department is still investigating the cause.
