Rough road conditions close local schools

ANDERSON, Ind. — By 8 a.m. Tuesday, the following school districts announced they would be closed. Most were citing poor road conditions and drifting snow for the closings.

  • Alexandria Community Schools
  • Anderson Community Schools
  • Daleville Community Schools
  • Elwood Community Schools
  • Frankton-Lapel Schools
  • Madison-Grant United Schools
  • Shenandoah School Corporation
  • South Madison Schools

Two-hour delays were still in effect for Anderson Preparatory School and Liberty Christian School.

    Two Anderson elementary schools posted double-digit increases in the percentage of third-graders who passed the IREAD-3 test last month, according to preliminary results released by school officials.

  • Jazz night comes to Paramount Hopkins and Miller’s Sunset Stomp Jazz Band will perform at 7:30 p.m. Thursday at the Paramount. The performance is one of the first events for the 27th Annual City of Anderson Little 500 Festival schedule.
