Head Start accepting applications for upcoming school year

ANDERSON — Transition Resources Corp. (TRC) Head Start is accepting applications for the 2013-14 Head Start school year.

Head Start is a free kindergarten readiness program for preschool age children. Head Start provides comprehensive education, health, nutrition, and parent involvement services to children and families. To be eligible, children must be 3 years of age, but under age 5, as of Aug 1.

Children and families are eligible for the Head Start program if they are homeless, receiving TANF or Supplemental Security Income (SSI), or if they are in foster care. Another way they are considered eligible is if the family’s income is determined to be at or below the federal poverty level. The program is federally funded.

TRC Head Start has locations in Anderson and Elwood in Madison County.Applications are accepted Monday through Friday at the current Anderson TRC Head Start Center, 2010 Brentwood Drive, from 8 to 4:30 p.m.

The child’s birth certificate and verification of family income are needed to apply. For additional information, call the Anderson TRC Head Start Center at 649-9905.

The TRC Anderson Head Start Center will be moving to 812 W. 13th St., during the 2013-14 school year.
