ANDERSON, Ind. —
Frankton High School senior Blake Michaels took first place Tuesday in the Anderson Noon Rotary Club’s annual speech contest for local high school students.
Blake, who has been accepted to attend Cornell University, spoke about service to others and encouraged listeners to think of it as a lifestyle and not a task with a beginning and an end.
The four participants in the Anderson Noon Rotary Club contest were asked to present four- to seven-minute speeches related to Rotary. Second place was awarded to Seth Vogel, a sophomore at Lapel High School. The third-place winner was Taylor Jennings, a junior at Alexandria High School.
The Rotary Club chose to send both the first- and second-place winners to the District Rotary Club Speech Contest in Indianapolis.
