ANDERSON — Indiana Lt. Gov. Susan Ellspermann will address the Anderson University Class of 2014 during commencement exercises on Saturday, May 10.
The 3 p.m. program will be conducted in the Ward Fieldhouse of the Kardatzke Wellness Center.
Speaking during Anderson University's baccalaureate service will be Dr. David Markle, senior pastor of Park Place Church of God in Anderson. Baccalaureate will take place at 10 a.m. that day in Reardon Auditorium.
All events are free and open to the public.
Anderson University will award four honorary degrees during commencement. Ellspermann will receive the Honorary Doctor of Laws. Ministers and educators Ken and Arlene Hall will receive the Honorary Doctor of Divinity. And artist Esther K. Augsburger, creator of the "Servant" sculpture on campus, will receive the Honorary Doctor of Fine Arts.
Other scheduled commencement events May 10 include the Falls School of Business hooding ceremony at noon in the lobby of Reardon Auditorium for candidates of both Master of Business Administration and Doctor of Business Administration degrees.
The hooding ceremony for Master in Music Education will be conducted at noon in the lobby of the York Performance Hall.
Related events scheduled prior to commencement include the School of Theology Senior Recognition and Awards Chapel on Tuesday, April 29, at 11 a.m. in Miller Chapel.
On Friday, May 9, at 6 p.m., the hooding ceremony for Master of Christian Ministries will take place in Miller Chapel.
A special pinning ceremony for the Anderson University School of Nursing will be conducted on Friday, May 9, at 6 p.m. in Reardon Auditorium.
The certification ceremony for the Teach for Indiana Program (TIP) will be held on Thursday, May 8, at 6 p.m. in Reardon Auditorium.
As Indiana's 50th lieutenant governor, Ellspermann manages six state agencies including the Indiana State Department of Agriculture, the Indiana Housing and Community Development Authority, the Office of Defense Development, the Office of Community and Rural Affairs, the Office of Tourism Development and the Office of Small Business and Entrepreneurship.
