---- — NEW CASTLE — The summer reading program at New Castle-Henry County Public Library, 376 S 15th St., is coming to a conclusion, but not without a week full of fun activities for the whole family.
Teen Tuesday on July 16 will feature an “Underland Quest” where teens can discuss the book “Gregor The Overlander.” Suzanne Collins, best known for her “Hunger Games” series, wrote this book about a mystical “underland.” This program is recommended for grades 5-8 and starts at 2 p.m. in Teenscape.
Silly Safaris will visit the library on Tuesday, July 16, at 6:30 p.m. in the auditorium. Participants can meet underground critters with Coyote Chris during this interactive program presented by the Children’s Library.
A special edition of Theater Thursday will begin at 6:30 p.m. on July 18. Celebrate the 100th birthday of Red Skelton by watching television clips from his show and enjoying cake from Heritage House in New Castle. The library is encouraging the community to read Red Skelton: The Mask Behind The Mask during the annual “Henry County Reads” program beginning in late September.
“Shared Harvest,” the seed library at New Castle-Henry County Public Library, will host a program about harvesting seeds on Saturday, July 20, at 1 p.m. Enjoy refreshments and door prizes during this activity.
Tuesday Movie Matinees will continue throughout the month of July. Friends of the Library sell snacks and drinks before and during the movies. Upcoming movies are: July 16 — “Fantastic Mr. Fox”; July 23 — “Escape from Planet Earth”; and July 30 — “My Neighbor Totoro.”
