Local programs salute veterans today

ANDERSON, Ind. — Several Veterans Day ceremonies and programs are scheduled today in Madison County.

Anderson

Veterans Day chapel, 9 a.m., gymnasium, Liberty Christian School, 2025 Hillcrest Ave. 

Veterans Day convocation, 9:30 a.m., Anderson High School, 4610 S. Madison Ave.

Veterans Day ceremony, 11 a.m., VFW Post 266, 3210 Columbus Ave. Free stew served following ceremony.

Free chili lunch for veterans, 11 a.m.-7 p.m., American Legion Post 127, 4118 Columbus Ave. 

Veterans Day program, 2 p.m., auditorium, Anderson Christian School.

Veterans Day program, 2 p.m., dining room, CrownPointe, 2727 CrownPointe Circle. Co-hosted by St. Vincent Anderson Home Health and CrownPointe.

Presentation by Fredrick Spencer relating to the World War II Battle for Tarawa, 7 p.m., Bowman Room, Madison County History Center, 11 W. 11th St. Hosted by the Madison County Historical Society.

Frankton

Veterans Day program, 1:30 p.m., gymnasium, Frankton Jr./Sr. High School.

Lapel

Veterans Day convocation, 1 p.m., auditorium, Lapel High School.

Pendleton

Veterans Day celebration, 1:30 and 6 p.m., AMVETS Post 26, 939 S. Broadway.

  • City to celebrate Earth Day After a one-year hiatus, the celebration of Earth Day in Anderson will take place at Shadyside Memorial Park this Saturday.
