Trinity Episcopal hosts the Original Salad Bowl luncheon

ANDERSON, Ind. — The Women of Trinity Episcopal Church will serve the Original Salad Bowl Luncheon on Friday from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. This come-and-go buffet luncheon has been an Anderson tradition for 50 years.

Sonja Hurley is serving as general chairwoman for this year’s event, which will be in the church parish hall, 11th and Brown-Delaware streets. The cost of the luncheon is $8.50. Carryout is available by calling 644-2566 by 10 a.m. that morning.

Proceeds from the salad luncheon will provide funding of grants for teachers in Anderson Community Schools for submitted proposals to address poverty issues in the school system. Grant applications will be available to all teachers in late summer. For the past several years, the Women of Trinity have annually awarded four $500 grants to teachers for their grant proposals. Grant money has been used to fund school gardens, books for classroom libraries and enrichment field trips.

The luncheon features Trinity recipes that have been passed from generation to generation, and luncheon guests will enjoy a variety of especially prepared salads and homemade breads.
