---- — PENDLETON – Think about it. There’s a reason our feet are reassuringly in contact with the ground most of the time.

Despite the fact that the earth is spinning, we manage not to fly off into space thanks to ‘unseen forces.’ Gravity, air pressure, inertia – they’re all the kinds of unseen forces that Professor Steve likes to explore with his fun blend of science and entertainment. The professor is bringing his action-packed learning experience to Pendleton Community Public Library on Saturday, June 15, at 10 a.m.

“We are going to learn about science. We’re going to do it in a very fun and exciting way,” said Professor Steve. “We’re going to learn about things that push us and pull around on a daily basis.”

Professor Steve will entertainingly shed light on some of the mysteries of our world that we all take for granted. Expect him to see him spinning cups of water over his head.

Watch as he pulls the tablecloth out from under a set table. Who would want to miss Professor Steve’s famous “Flying Toilet Paper” trick?

Professor Steve is the alter ego of Steve Walden, of Lebanon, Ind. He is a former youth and education minister in the state. The 1981 graduate of Lincoln Christian College has worked with youth for more than 25 years.

Walden also trained with Ringling Brothers instructors and other performers in the areas of circus and clowning. A professional clown of 31 years, Walden brings his clowning skills to his science performances, except he wears a lab coat for it.

Arlene Shannon, Program/Community Outreach Specialist at the library, said the event is designed to be a shareable Father’s Day weekend moment that both kids and their dads will like. This is the fourth Donuts with Daddy program the library has hosted. Last year’s program packed the room with about 70 kids and their dads. Professor Steve’s visit to the library this year is being sponsored by the Pendleton Friends of the Library.

Saturday’s program is free and open to the public. Call ahead to reserve a spot at 765-778-7527 or email ashannon@pendleton.lib.in.us.
