YMCA offers scuba classes

ANDERSON — If you’re looking for some fun and excitement or if you have ever wondered what it would be like to swim underwater through schools of brightly-colored fish, the Anderson Family YMCA can help turn your wonder into reality. It’s like no experience on the surface of the earth — there’s nothing to compare with the beauty of moving freely through an underwater environment.

Beginning Monday, Jan. 20, the Anderson Family YMCA will offer an eight-session scuba class. Classes will be held on Monday evenings, 6 to 10 p.m. You must be 12 years of age or older to attend scuba classes.

Those who complete the class will be eligible for open water certification notes Angie Smith, fitness/wellness and aquatics director for the Anderson Family YMCA. The fee is $175 for YMCA members and $225 for non-members. The fee covers partial gear, text and materials for class sessions conducted at the YMCA pool.

Questions about scuba offerings should be directed to the YMCA, 644-7796; you may register online at www.ymcamadco.org or at the YMCA member services desk. Early registration is recommended to ensure a place in the class.
