---- — DALEVILLE — The Daleville High School Student Council is planning activities for Homecoming, which will be highlighted by the crowning of the queen and king before the varsity Daleville Bronco-Union Rockets basketball game Friday in the school gymnasium.
Senior candidates for homecoming queen are Shraya Patel, daughter of Dipak and Anjana Patel, and Kylie Powell, daughter of Phil and RaeJean Powell. Senior king candidates are Donovan Archer, son of Donald and Deborah Archer, and Ben Wright, son of Jerry and Monet Wright. Junior candidates for queen are Erika Cook, daughter of Edward and Satoko Cook, and Hannah Huff, daughter of Kevin and Kim Huff. Junior king candidates are Zach Sizelove, son of Chris and Terri Sizelove, and Bryce Stephens, son of Mike and Shelly Stephens.
Sophomore princess is Kayla Skinner, daughter of Kevin and Candy Skinner. The sophomore prince is Kaleb Rench, son of Joe and Paula Rench. The freshman princess is Abbi Gabriel, daughter of Robin Gabriel; the freshman prince is Corbin Maddox, son of Charles and Kellie Maddox.
Carrying the crowns for this year’s homecoming are Daleville Elementary School second-graders Rachel Coffin, daughter of Jason and Lisa Coffin, and Bryan Kendall, son of Bryan and Tiffany Kendall. The king and queen from the 2013 Homecoming, Jaime Roberts and Dalen Beck, will crown the new royalty.
This year’s theme is “A Mr. Parkison Tribute.” Dave Parkison is retiring this year after many years of service as a teacher, coach, Historian sponsor, and former principal of Daleville Jr./Sr. High School.
Special days of the week are: Tuesday — College Day; Wednesday — Color Wars (classes compete to see how many students in each grade can wear their classes “selected” color); Thursday — Ugly Sweater Day; Friday — Black and Gold Day. The most creative outfits will be judged each day.
Daleville’s Class of 1994 will be recognized during the game. The Student Council will also honor teachers who have been at Daleville Community Schools for over 20 years: Frank Barkdull, David Beard, Kim Beard, Rob Curry, Diane Evans, Paul Garrison, Ann Heintzelman, Sandy Hird, Pat Keogh, Rod Knotts, Ilene Kuhl, Janet Northcutt, Lisa Oakes, David Parkison, Jeff Phillips, Susie Reed and Vickie Rees.
After the basketball game, a dance will be held in the cafetorium. Tickets will be available at the door.
The presidents of Student Council are seniors Shraya Patel and Garrett Craig. Pat Keogh is the faculty sponsor.
