ANDERSON, Ind. — Tim Long retained his seat on the Anderson Community Schools Board, defeating challenger Virginia Chapman for South Position 1.

Long received 52 percent of the vote Tuesday.

“It feels very good to know people recognize the work I’ve done in the last four years,” Long said.

Long said he would “bring back motivators” for the students and spend more time focusing on vocational courses. The second-term board member said he’d like to see the school system, as the economy grows, get students out into businesses.

Chapman said she doesn’t plan to run again, with the mentality “three strikes and you’re out.”

She’ll continue to focus on her job as a professor at Anderson University.

“I love working with the students there ...,” she said. “Life will go on.”
