Mardi Gras comes to Anderson

The Edge to host New Orleans buffet, show

ANDERSON — Madison County will get a taste of The Big Easy this week.

The Edge is starting its 2014 season with a Mardi Gras-themed dinner buffet and show Tuesday.

Attendees will dine on New Orleans-style cuisine like jambalaya and king cake starting at 6:30 p.m.

As of Friday afternoon, about 30 tickets were left for the dinner, The Edge event coordinator Valerie Howard said. People can reserve $25 tickets up to Tuesday morning, provided there are still some available.

To add to the Bourbon Street feel, The Edge will have Dixieland jazz from musicians Becky Chappell, Sarah Scharbrough, John Huntoon, Jeff McLaughlin, Mark Murray and Stephen Scharbrough.

Howard said Rick Vale came up with the Mardi Gras theme, along with the rest of the 2014 season of Theatre On The Edge events.

The “Fat Tuesday” event will also feature games, beads, a photo booth, and Gloria Long will have some centerpieces for each table.

The Edge will also give away some free tickets to other events later in the year.

“This is the first Mardi Gras event at The Edge, but I already think we’ll have requests to do it again,” she said via email. “From the food to the entertainment, it will be a really fun night.”

Reservations for the Mardi Gras event can be made by calling The Edge at 642-4979.

Other events for Theatre On The Edge's 2014 season are: "Denise Hummer: The Singing Nurse" on May 1; "Jacques Brel is Alive and Well and Living in Paris" on July 17-18; "Rat Pack Pool Party" on Sept. 11; and "Rick Vale's Christmas Cabaret" on Dec. 18.
