Bret Michaels rocks new Hoosier Park venue

ANDERSON, Ind. — Garbed in black jeans with holes cut into the knees, Rhonda Addington screamed in delight as Bret Michaels jumped onto the stage at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino begging his baby to talk dirty to him.

“He is such a hotty,” Addington, 45, said bouncing to the music with a huge smile on her face.

Addington was one of 1,200 people attending the Bret Michaels concert inside the new Terrace Showroom at the casino. A regular at the venue, Addington was stunned by the $4 million showroom renovations as she walked to her seat.

“This is really nice,” she said, looking around the room. “It is more spread out and almost like going to someplace in Indianapolis.”

The biggest difference between the former concert set up and the new one, Addington said, was the sound.

Several songs were played by band members before Michaels took the stage, and the music thumped heavily in the air, reverberating off the chests of those who were anxiously waiting for the show to begin.

“This is the ultimate show,” Addington said snapping dozens of photos with her cell phone.

Near the entrance of concert, Julie Bradbury, 53, of McCordsville sat on a couch sipping a glass of white wine in a private suite. The open seating area blends into the theater-style seating of the showroom.

“I love it,” Bradbury said. “I feel like it’s Vegas! How could you not love watching a live concert from a couch?”

Kelly Doyle, 38, of New Castle said this was her first indoor concert at the casino. Doyle and her boyfriend sat at the far left of the stage, but said she was very happy with her seating.

“It’s cool,” she said. “There really isn’t any bad seats here.”

The renovations will allow bigger shows to be held in the showroom including The Pointer Sisters, 8 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 14; Josh Turner, 8 .m. on Friday, Jan. 17; and Cheap Trick, 8 p.m. on Saturday, Feb. 22.

Addington said she will be at the next show.

“This is amazing,” she said swaying in time to Michaels' lyrics of love.
