Muncie orchestra to present children's concert

---- — MUNCIE — The Muncie Symphony Orchestra will present its annual children’s concert on Thursday at 9:30 a.m. in the Emens Auditorium in Muncie. Admission is free and open to the public.



The theme of the concert is “Music is Science!” The concert will be approximately 45 minutes long and will feature fun science experiments presented by musical scientist, Dr. Patrick Herak. The concert will also feature Rowan Squire-Willey, a 2012 winner of the MSO's Young Artist Competition, on piano.



"Blue Danube Waltz," "Surprise Symphony," "Russian Sailor's Dance" and more fun music is performed while experiments take place on stage. Children should also keep an ear open for "Sid the Science Kid,"  the Angry Birds theme, "Fiddle Faddle" and other familiar tunes.



The concert is presented by McDonald's of Muncie Inc., and is made possible, in part, by funds from the Indiana Arts Commission, Robert and Beverly Terhune Foundation at the Community Foundation of Muncie and Delaware County, Harry and Janet Kitselman Foundation, and Hamer and Phyllis Shafer Foundation.
