ALEXANDRIA — The Madison County Extension Homemakers are sponsoring their annual International Tasting Tour of 16 countries and states on Wednesday, April 2, between 11 a.m. and 1:30 p.m. at the Madison County 4-H Farm Bureau Building.
This is a come-and-go event, it is free and open to the public, organizers said. Donations are welcome. Groups are encouraged to attend.
Mary Decker, chairwoman, announced the following foods, countries and states that will be featured: Chile — Pastel de Choclo; England — Scarborough Potato Salad; Germany — German Chocolate Sauerkraut Cake; Greece — Ntolmathes; Haiti — Rice and Beans; India — Chicken Pulao; Ireland — Colcannon; Ireland — Irish Scones & Creamy Irish Potato Soup; Italy — Bruschetta; Japan — Chicken Fried Rice; Korea — Korean Cole Slaw; Mexico — Mexican Wedding Cakes; Panama — Arroz Con Pollo; South Africa — Creamy Chicken Peanut Soup; Sri Lanka — Coconut Rice; United States — American Apple Pie; United States — Indiana — Mom’s Caramel Corn.
Small samples of food will be provided at each country’s exhibit. Beverages will be available at a nominal fee. A booklet of International recipes will also be provided.
