For The Herald Bulletin

PENDLETON, Ind. — The fifth annual Pendleton Friends of the Library Chili Cook-Off will be on Sunday, March 4, from 1 to 3 p.m. It’s not too late to nominate your favorite spicy personality for the Mr. Hot Stuff & Ms. Chili Pepper contest.

Last year’s event had stiff competition among the many nominees.  And there are sure to be lots of laughs at this year’s event as the winners are crowned at 2:45 p.m.

Ballots will be counted at 5 p.m. on Thursday, and the top two contestants in both categories will be finalists at Sunday’s chili cook-off.  To nominate or vote for your favorite, visit The Pendleton Community Public Library at 595 E. Water St.

The Pendleton Friends of the Library chili cook-off is always full of prizes, games and all-around fun.  But the real reason to be there is to sample all of the delicious chilies vying for the top prize.

There is still time to enter your chili in the contest.  Stop into the library to pick up a registration form, or find one on the library’s website.  Fill out the form and return it to the library with your entry fee.  The cost is $15 for an individual entry and $25 for a group entry.  Entry forms and registration fees should be dropped off at the library by 8 p.m. on Thursday. Prizes will be awarded in four categories including best individual, best group, best presentation/name, and “tasters’ choice.”

The chili cook-off will begin at 1 p.m. at The Pendleton Community Public Library on Sunday, March 4.  All-you-can-taste “Tasting Tickets” are $5. Hot dogs will also be available.  “Tasting Tickets” can be purchased at the Library or at the door.
