Kathy Griffin to perform at Hoosier Park

Heart, Little Big Town among major acts coming to Anderson

ANDERSON — Kathy Griffin isn’t on the D-List anymore, and she’s coming to Anderson.

The comedian is bringing her stand-up act to Hoosier Park Racing & Casino at 8 p.m. April 26.

The Emmy and Grammy winner will dish about her latest run-ins with celebrities and observations about Hollywood’s elite and popular culture in the Terrace Showroom.

Hoosier Park communications director Grant Scharton said in an email that tickets for the show are still available but they’re going fast.

“To have a Grammy-winning comedian and celebrity of Kathy Griffin’s popularity perform at Hoosier Park is exactly why we built the new state-of-the-art Terrace Showroom venue,” he said. “With the completely renovated Terrace Showroom, we can continue to attract bigger name acts and offer our guests a truly unique entertainment experience unlike any other in the Indianapolis area.”

Griffin has grown in popularity over the years for her witty observations about other celebrities and her often awkward encounters with them.

She won two Emmys for her reality show “Kathy Griffin: My Life on the D-List,” and in 2013 became the third woman to win a Grammy in the Best Comedy Album category for “Kathy Griffin: Calm Down Gurrl.” She also holds the Guinness World Record for the most televised stand-up specials.

Other notable appearances have included her role on “Suddenly Susan,” winning “Celebrity Mole: Hawaii” and guest spots on shows like “Seinfeld.”

She hosted her own show called “Kathy,” which aired for two seasons on Bravo, and has co-hosted “CNN’s New Year’s Eve” with Anderson Cooper for several years.

But Griffin isn’t the only big name coming to Hoosier Park.

The organization recently announced some acts for its summer lineup, which includes Grammy award winning and multi-platinum group Little Big Town.
