The Commons Theatre announces auditions of 'Godspell'

ALEXANDRIA — The Commons Theatre is announcing auditions for its summer production of “Godspell,” a musical from Stephen Schwartz.

“Godspell” is based on the Gospel of Matthew. The cast helps Jesus Christ tell different parables by using improvisation, games, storytelling and a hefty dose of comedy.

Auditions are open to all high school and college-age youth and will be held Thursday from 7 to 9 p.m. and Sunday from 2 to 4 p.m. at the Commons Theatre, 204 W. Church St., Alexandria.

Auditioners should come prepared with a short song to sing and be dressed to move. They will also be asked to read from the script. Auditions are mainly for casting. All who audition will be in the production. If these times don’t work, contact the director to arrange another time to audition.

Rehearsals will begin Monday, June 16. Performances are July 25 and 26 at 7:30 p.m. and July 27 at 2:30 p.m.

Rehearsals are planned for Mondays and Wednesdays, 3 to 6 p.m. and Tuesdays and Thursdays, 6 to 9 p.m.

Information: contact director, Pastor Julia Bratton, at revjulia@att.net or text her at (260) 341-3669. (Put Godspell in subject line or at beginning of text).
