Finalists to sing for top prize in Hoosier Park's Halloween event

ANDERSON, Ind. — Three contestants will sing before hundreds at Hoosier Park Racing & Casino in the culmination of its Hoosier Rock Idol singing competition Saturday.

The three, who were selected over the past four weeks, are singing for a top prize of $5,000 and the opportunity to perform before rock fans in a 2013 Hoosier Park concert. The final night of the competition will take place during Hoosier Park’s annual Halloween Monster Bash event beginning about 8 p.m. in the Terrace.

Each finalist will perform a pre-selected rock song with accompaniment provided by the Hoosier Park house band, Cook & Belle. In addition to the top prize, the second-place winner will receive $500 and the third-place winner $250.

The finalists are Matt Hurt of Pendleton, Daleena Bailey of Wabash and Amanda Duncan of Kokomo

The Hoosier Rock Idol competition will be one of many highlights during the Halloween-themed evening. In its fifth year, the Monster Bash will be hosted by Q95’s Gunner and include a costume contest with cash prizes up to $1,000.

Entrance into the Hoosier Rock Idol and Monster Bash is free to the public ages 18 years and older.
