PENDLETON, Ind. — Gourd Decorating Workshop with Marla Helton as the instructor will be held from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 24, at the Pendleton Artist Society Gallery, 136 Water St., Pendleton.

“Powdered Pigments and Coiling on a Gourd,” this fast-paced class is fun and easy and you will be amazed at how beautiful your finished piece will be.

Starting with a cleaned gourd, students will learn to apply luscious colors of powdered pigments to create their one of a kind color combination.

or chips will be provided for students to experiment with before applying the pigments to their gourds. After applying the color, gourds will be sealed and drilled and coiling with Danish cord will begin. Hand dyed silk ribbon and mizuhiki will add just the special touch to give your weaving a beautiful finish. Bring sharp scissors and if convenient, a cordless drill with 1/16” drill bit (not required) 4 hr. $58.
