ANDERSON, Ind. —
There’s a new menu option in Anderson.
Qdoba Mexican Grill opens at 7 a.m. Tuesday, at the intersection of Scatterfield Road and Charles Street.
The restaurant serves burritos, tacos, quesadillas and other Mexican food. It’s made-to-order, and diners can customize with an eclectic array of veggies, cheeses and six different salsas.
“We do for Mexican cuisine what Starbucks does for coffee,” said general manager Jay Nestleroad. “It’s made fresh, from fresh ingredients. It’s artisanal, but at a fair price.”
Monday, restaurant management and local officials held a ribbon-cutting ceremony in the dining room.
“This shows we have the ability to attract national chains,” said Deputy Mayor Pete Heuer, who attended the ceremony. “That Anderson is a good place to do business.”
Anderson’s Qdoba is one of around 640 in nationwide franchise.
And it was “a long time coming,” said Paul Nicholson, chief operating officer of property developer Central Management Services Inc. He said they’d hoped to open last summer.
But, since the restaurant is in a commercial strip building, they needed at least one more leaser before that could happen.
He said they’ve since locked in Chinese fast-food eatery, Panda Express, which should open soon in the space to Qdoba’s immediate south.
To the north, they’ve poured the foundation for a retail business, although Nicholson wouldn’t say which one.
CMR Associates LLC, which owns and operates Qdoba franchises in Greenfield and Anderson, chose the location for its proximity to shopping and Hoosier Park.
That section of Scatterfield Road “is the commercial and retail hub for the community,” said chairman Mike Rees. “That usually means more (store) traffic.”
All told, Anderson’s Qdoba will employ between 20 and 25 people.
The dining room will be open Monday through Saturday 7 a.m. to 10 p.m., and Sunday from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m.
