Reader Recipes: May 21

FAIRMOUNT — Bettie Hurt of Fairmount has shared two of her favorite recipes with The Herald Bulletin readers.

Orange Jello Salad

1 3-ounce package of orange Jello

1 large can crushed pineapple

1 8-ounce cream cheese

2 envelopes dream whip

2/3 cup sugar

1/3 cup milk

Bring pineapple and juice to boil, remove from heat. Add sugar and jello, stir until dissolved. Cool in refrigerator. Add milk to cream cheese, beat until smooth. Prepare Dream Whip according to package directions. Whip jello with mixer until foamy. Combine cream cheese mixture and Dream Whip, fold into jello. Can be used in a mold, or pretty bowl.

Crock Pot Corn

2 1-pound bags frozen corn

1 8-ounce cream cheese

1 stick butter

6 tablespoons water

2 tablespoons sugar

Place ingredients in crock pot. Cream cheese will melt and can be mixed together.

Cook on low for 4 hours.

    A new favorite that combines food and cars is rolling back into town next week. Food Truckin' Thursday starts back up May 1. For about six months, local vendors will pull up their food trucks to Citizens Park Plaza at Ninth and Main streets from 11 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
