---- — ANDERSON — Each of the IHSAA schools in The Herald Bulletin readership area submits the names of two nominees — one girl and one boy — for the Johnny Wilson Award.

To qualify to be a nominee, an athlete must have competed at the varsity level for at least two seasons in each of at least three sports.

The athletic director at each school submits the names of the nominees along with information about each athlete’s accomplishments. Many times, a letter from the athlete, along with a letter of support from a coach or athletic director, is also sent.

In a noon luncheon Wednesday, each athlete will receive a medallion to signify being nominated.

The overall male winner and the overall female winner are selected by a group of Herald Bulletin staff members. The selection is based on good standing as a student and citizen, participation in multiple varsity sports and accomplishments in those sports.

At the luncheon, the two overall winners will be presented with glass sculptures, as well as $500 college scholarships.
