Made for a feast

ANDERSON — Marrying the rugged experience of the great outdoors to the elegance of a two-story living room and a bathroom with a whirlpool tub and jetted shower, the home of Gregory and Carolyn (Weatherly) Scott has been an oasis for the couple.

Returning to Anderson nine years ago, they chose Creedmoor Glen as the perfect location with a fabulous view.

“I grew up in Anderson but we’ve moved around a lot,” said Carolyn, mentioning time in New Jersey, Colorado and California, among other places. “We decided it was time to move back to Anderson because we were looking at retirement.”

“Family was a large consideration,” added Gregory, an attorney and former justice on the Colorado Supreme Court. “This house was more Carolyn’s view of home as she felt very comfortable with the location. It made sense because we have the ability to attend events in Indianapolis due to the proximity and we have the small town feel of Anderson.”

Conducive to crowds

The Scotts may only have one son who lives nearby, but the number of siblings, nieces and nephews is large.

“We have many Thanksgivings and gatherings here and usually have around 75 people,” said Carolyn, a lawyer not currently practicing. “The house holds them very comfortably. We had a memorial service here with over 100 people.”

One of the elements that makes the space conducive to such numbers is the large finished walk-out basement and the expansive decks. Traffic can flow from the interior gathering area to the lower deck and individuals can decide whether to sit a spell, take a walk through the woods next to the stream or climb to the upper deck to enjoy a different view.

“We lived in the mountains in Colorado and the area looked like this,” said Carolyn, gesturing to the vista from the living room through the massive palladium windows that cover most of the wall. “It is so serene and tranquil. We really like it.”
