Mr. and Mrs. Roy Girt recently celebrated their 65th wedding anniversary at their home in Anderson.
They were married Nov. 27, 1948 at the bride’s home near Cadiz.
Mr. Girt, born and raised in Anderson, is a World War II veteran. He retired from Guide Division of General Motors in 1983 after 37 years of service.
Mrs. Girt, the former Lois Jean Brown, was born in Henry County. She grew up and attended school in Cadiz. She worked at Brockway Glass (later Owens-Illinois) for 20 years, retiring in 1989.
Roy and Lois met while working at Guide Lamp in 1946. They married in 1948 and moved to Cadiz from Anderson in 1950, where they resided for 17 years. They moved back to Anderson in 1967, where they have lived ever since.
Mr. and Mrs. Girt are the parents of one son, Ron (wife, Caryn), and the grandparents of Andrea Girt-Meadows (husband, Brad).
