Bates anniversary

— Barrett and Roberta Bates will celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary today. They were married at South Meridian Church of God in Anderson on April 7, 1963, on a Palm Sunday. They were students at Anderson University. Their family attends East Side Church of God.

Roberta worked at South Elementary in Pendleton as a teacher for 32 years. Barrett worked at Anderson University for 28 years  as an instructor, basketball coach and Athletic Director. He also taught and coached in Pendleton, Springfield, Ohio, and Dallas, Texas, before going to Anderson University.

They have three wonderful sons and wonderful daughters-in-law. They have eight of the greatest grandchildren.

Son, Jeffrey (Beth) and children, Kyle, and twins, Cameron and Conner; son, Ryan (Cami) and children: Katie, Ethan and Lauryn; son, Kevin (Jamie) and children; Tyler and Jordyn, all of Anderson.

They will celebrate with a family dinner and a trip with their children and grandchildren.
