Runyan anniversary

The Herald Bulletin

— Ron and Sandy Runyan had several celebrations recently to observe their Golden 50th wedding anniversary. They were married Dec. 16, 1962, at East Main Street Christian Church by the Rev. Jerry McCoy.

They shared the remembrance of their anniversary with Sandy’s siblings in Myrtle Beach, S.C., and with Ron’s siblings in Carmel before embarking on the highlight of their celebration. Their children and grandchildren joined in the joyous occasion on a seven-day Eastern Caribbean cruise onboard the Norwegian Epic over the Christmas holiday. They went snorkeling on the coral reef, swimming with dolphins and shopping on the Caribbean Islands. They continued observing their anniversary at dances and dinners with friends while in Florida over the winter months.

The Runyans are the parents of three children, Shelley (Steve) Shoup of Thorntown, Stacey (Greg) England of Daleville, and Rodger (Katie) Runyan of Muskego, Wis. They have four grandchildren, Madelyn and Sam Runyan in Muskego, Wis., and Lauren and Larken England of Daleville.

Mr. Runyan graduated from Ball State University (BS/MA). He was an industrial arts and vocational education teacher at Elwood Community Schools where he retired. Ron also spent many years coaching football at Elwood schools. Mrs. Runyan is a member of Mad Hatters Red Hat Club, and Creative Friends Home Ec Club in Elwood. Sandy retired from Textron (formerly Ex-Cell-O) in Elwood.

They are both 1961 graduates of Wendell L. Willkie High School in Elwood, and have been members at East Main Street Christian Church for more than 50 years.
