Martin and Donna (Lusher) Koob celebrated their 60th wedding anniversary on March 8, 2013. In lieu of a celebration and in honor of their anniversary they are planning a trip to Florida this spring.
Martin and Donna were married March 8, 1953, at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Anderson. They lived in Anderson until 1958, at which time they moved to Alexandria where they continue to reside.
Martin worked for Alexandria Banking Co. and Cotterman Furniture in their early years of marriage while Donna worked at Indiana Bell. In 1971, the couple purchased the Western Auto store in Alexandria. Several years later they added furniture and appliances eventually phasing out the Western Auto store and changing the name to Koob Furniture and Appliances. After closing the furniture store in the early 1990s, Donna worked for Quality House Furniture and later Rhodes Jewelry and Martin sold and installed flagpoles and ran a carpet cleaning business. Presently, they are enjoying retirement, the company of each other, their family and friends. They are active members of the First United Methodist Church of Alexandria.
Martin and Donna have two daughters, Joni L. (husband, Steve) Craig of Middletown, and Jill D. Scott of Alexandria.
They have five grandchildren, Jason (wife, Lesley) Patterson of Middletown, Matthew (wife, Meggan) Patterson of Philadelphia, Pa., Travis Scott of Anderson, Anthony Scott of Marion, and Christopher (wife, Sarah) Craig of St. Paul, Minn. They have two great-grandchildren: Lilly Patterson and Josie Patterson (parents, Jason and Lesley).
