Frank and Leona Anderson celebrated their 70th wedding anniversary.
Frank was drafted and served aboard the USS Yorktown in the Pacific Theater during World War II. They were married July 9, 1943, just before he shipped out, which was not uncommon at that time. Serving for two and a half years he returned home to his wife to begin their future together.
They have four children, Judy Carol Flatt, Dennis W. Anderson, David D. Anderson and Jon Paul Anderson. They have nine grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren. They have lived in Pendleton all these 70 years. Frank was a tool and die maker at Delco Remy and Leona retired from the Pendleton Banking Co.
The first weekend in August, 27 family members came home to help celebrate this anniversary.
