Isabelle Slackman Newsom was born in Toledo, Ohio, on March 1, 1924, to Horace and Alice Slackman. Her paternal grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Carl Boone were residents of Anderson. Shortly after her birth her family moved to Anderson.
Later she went to live with an aunt in Indianapolis. There she attended Elementary School 37 and graduated from Crispus Attacks High School in 1942.
She returned to Anderson, and married Charles Foster Newsom and to this union was born three sons, Horace B., Charles D., and Victor R. Newsom; and one daughter, Tanya Michelle Paige.
Mrs. Newsom worked for the U.S. Government, utilities office in Anderson, Anderson Community Schools before retiring. She and her husband operated Newsom Electric & Locksmith Shop at 22nd Street and Madison Avenue.
She celebrated her 90th birthday on March 1. Her family and friends from near and far came to celebrate with her on this momentous event.
