Mr. and Mrs. Richard D. Smith, Anderson, are celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary.
Richard Smith of Elwood and the former Martha Stafford of Tipton were married June 26, 1948, at West Street Christian Church in Tipton by the Rev. Robert W. Morris.
They have lived in Anderson for the past 54 years and prior to that they lived in Elwood.
They have three children, Michael (Anita) Smith of Decatur, Carolyn (Steve) Swan of Tipton, and James (Susie) Smith of Nashville, Tenn. They have three grandchildren, Justin (Jill) Swan of Tipton, Clint (Meghan) Swan of Bloomington, and Stefanie Swan (Troy) Parton of Kokomo and five great-grandchildren, Lukas, Mylan, Nolan Swan, and Liam and Abby Swan.
Mr. Smith is retired from Delco Remy after 37 years of employment. Mrs. Smith is a homemaker and was a church secretary for several years. Both are members of First Church of the Nazarene in Anderson where they have faithfully attended and served in several ministries. They attribute the 65 years of a loving marriage to their faith in the Lord Jesus Christ and love and commitment to each other.
Richard is also an artist and member of the Art Association of Madison County.
They will be having a special celebration this fall with family and friends.
