VIEWPOINT: Hoosiers should opt out of voting

Everyone is going crazy. I wouldn’t believe it if I hadn’t seen it myself. Even though Indiana is in a familiar position (our votes cannot win the presidential primary for either candidate), the candidates are grabbing at us worse than Bill Clinton ... blindfolded ... at Hooters. They say things that would be political suicide in any other context. Hillary says she will penalize businesses that, get this, make too much money! And people cheer. Why? Wouldn’t you like your company to make more money? Do you think you’ll still get a raise if their profits are capped? Then Obama says some of us will cling to our religion and guns. I think it’s a good commentary on the condition of the government when folks choose to stay home, pray, and reload.

So what is the solution? I think I have one. On Election Day, do nothing. That’s it. Go to work, school, church, or whatever you would otherwise do, but stay away from the polls. Do the same in November and every other election until they stop having elections. Our government (at every level) is expensive, inefficient, incompetent, disconnected, and bloated with fraud and waste. We can do better by doing it ourselves. An open and free market can satisfy every need we have without taxes and layer upon layer of bumbling bureaucracy.

What could you afford if 30 percent of your pay wasn’t stolen every week? You could probably afford to subscribe to a private security plan that would give you just as much protection as a multi-billion dollar defense department (and pay its employees better, and not blow billions of your dollars in some litter box on the other side of the world).  You could also likely afford better health care, better education for your children, and a far better retirement plan than social security.

Join me in electing yourself as your own representative by refusing to elect anyone else. The American people have evolved beyond the need for the smothering oppression of government. Call your congressman, your county commissioner and your city councilman. Tell them to disband, go home, get a job, and become a true American again. Go outside and talk to your neighbor. See what he needs and what you can offer.  The next American Revolution is at hand. Join me.
