Parents should not let music raise their children

“Jeezy like to drank, Jeezy like to smoke, Jeezy like to mix Arm&Hammer wit his Coke” are lyrics from a rapper named Young Jeezy. Many people are blaming hip hop, rap, heavy metal and punk rock for children’s behavior. So did anyone raise the question “Why are parents not parenting and letting music raise their kids?” It’s up to the parents to make sure that their teen or child is listening to music that is suitable for their ears.

I know that there are parents who do not care that their child listens to Lil Wayne or Young Jeezy; however, if a child knows all of the words to the song “Lollipop” but does not know how to solve A2+B2=C2, do the parents get questioned in a situation like this?

In the Columbine tragedy, did Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold’s parents know that they were making bombs, buying guns and planning to leave only the memories of those 12 students and one teacher that were shot and killed on that eventful day? No? Now let it be known that everyone knew that the boys listened to Marilyn Manson, Insane Clown Posse, and wore those singers and groups’ concert T-shirts to school every day. Yet no one knew that they were being tortured, bullied and pushed around every day. Their parents may not have known what they were doing in the basement, but they knew where to point the finger and who to blame when it was all said and done.

Parents, get involved in a child’s life and stop letting music raise your kids.
