Katherlean L. Holcomb

Katherlean L. Holcomb went home to be with the Lord on Oct. 11, 2008.
She was born March 21, 1918, in Woodbury, Ky., to William and Mattie Porter. She was a devoted mother of six children, as well as a devoted spiritual mother in the church. She loved to talk about the Lord and give words of encouragement. She was a member of Paramount Community Church and served on the mother’s board and a member of Phyllis Wheatley Social Club.
She leaves to cherish her memory three daughters, Delores Hooper of Champaign, Ill., Madelean Thomas of Fort Wayne, and Charamaine Haskins of Anderson; two sons, Thomas O. Sweat (friend, JoAnn Anderson) of Marion, and James E. (Eureaka) Holcomb of Anderson; special daughter-in-law, Betty Coleman; 22 grandchildren; 53 great-grandchildren; 23 great-great-grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Russell W. Holcomb; a son, Gilbert Coleman; her parents, William and Mattie Porter; a brother, Otha Porter; and a granddaughter, Robin Coleman.
Services will be at 1 p.m. Saturday at New Kingdom Builders with Elder Iry Hogan officiating. Burial will be in Gardens of Memory Cemetery.
Calling hours will be Saturday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at New Kingdom Builders.
