Gas customers should pay own repairs

Vectren Source is a nonprofit affiliate of Vectren Energy Delivery, the natural gas delivery company in this area. Their proposed service is not administrated by Vectren but by Nicor Services in Illinois. If all 534,000 customers of Vectren North’s district chose to join this gas line Comfort Guard Insurance Program, at $60 per year, it would equate to a cost to gas customers of over $30 billion annually, going directly to Vectren and only covering up to $600 in repairs.

VIEWPOINT: Enforce congressional ethics by limiting federal powers

Far from meeting the need for greater focus on ethics, the program former Rep. Lee Hamilton, D-Ind. District 9, endorses simply points out why Americans hate their Congress (Reader Viewpoint Sept. 18).

Identify yourself when greeting sightless

It costs nothing and can be a tremendous help. My wife has been legally blind for several years. I will never forget the morning she said “I can’t see my face in the mirror.” With blindness comes tremendous problems. No more reading, piano playing, watching TV, looking at family albums, seeing the tremendous changes in grandchildren, and on and on. But oh, how she and others who are sightless enjoy conversations with friends.
