Letter: Pence’s 10 percent tax cut not the cure

I see the Koch brothers own Mike Pence, since the only thing he ever says is 10 percent tax cuts for everyone. A 10 percent tax cut for a minimum wage earner equals a lunch at McDonald’s or Wendy’s. A 10 percent tax cut for the Koch brothers, who own stock in every product made in Indiana, would probably buy a ranch in Texas.

Forty years ago, Bob Dylan wrote these song lyrics, “You gotta serve somebody, your Lord or your master.” Mike Pence feigned religion to get elected, then switched gears to the Koch brothers, who gave $200,000 to his campaign. Now, they want payback, which is what Pence is gladly promoting with his 10 percent tax agenda.

Someone once said, “We’ve got the best government money can buy,” meaning our politicians will work for themselves, not for the people of the state. This is true.

Our infrastructure is crumbling, sewer systems are deplorable, jobs are overseas and crime is rampant. And, all Mike Pence can say is, “Cut taxes 10 percent, that will cure everything.” Give me a break. He didn’t get half of the votes, and acts as if he has some sort of mandate to get his way. Bah!

I dread the next four years of watching him keep repeating his 10 percent tax cuts are good for all.

  • Letter: Poll shows priorities are backward Your recent polling question about schools providing free food for children tells us society has its priorities backwards. The conservatives want low taxes. 53 percent said no to feeding the kids.

  • Letter: President's trade being swept under rug My question to all, why do we keep hearing after a number of months about the shootings in Colorado, Sandy Hook, etc., but yet the president illegally deals with terrorists, trades five for a believed deserter and now it is being swept under the rug?

  • Letter: Constitution, laws being trampled Nancy Pelosi said, "When it comes to protecting the children I'm a lioness!" Too bad that doesn't include the babies who are ripped from the womb. How ironic to hear the progressive liberals talk of compassion for illegals while killing our own.
