Letter: New interstate project a waste of money

When I first heard about it, I said, "They're gonna do what?" A lake right in the middle of Anderson. Now comes another Republican waste of money and time. A new interstate exit and entrance on Scatterfield Road. Maybe so the Carmel-Fishers crowd can drive their $100,000 foreign cars to Anderson on their way to see their new lake (Carp Lake) to cut the opening ribbon or first shovel full of dirt. In our face.

These boondoggles were never heard of until Indiana was taken over by the Republican Party, who do what they want, when they want, and we find out in the newspaper.

All the money is being wasted on flippant Republican spur-of-the-moment whims.

This money should be used for food stamps for the poor and property tax relief for the poor who make less than $20,000 a year.

We don't need a lake in Anderson or a new interchange at mile 26 on Interstate 69, period.

Indiana can't beg or borrow money for our crumbling schools (except in Carmel, Fishers), but can build a lake in the middle of Anderson and a roundabout, exit-entrance, on Interstate 69 and Scatterfield Road costing millions of taxpayer dollars.
