Letter: Public should get informed about fracking

The League of Women Voters recently offered the viewing of "Gasland part 11" at the library. This was announced at least two different times in the paper. There were eight people there, including myself. Evidently, people don't seem to care what is happening all around the country. This is about fracking or natural gas drilling.

There are many wells already in service and many more planned. This fracking can have dire effects on the environment, on people's wells. Fracking can contaminate the water and decimate the landscape.

I suggest you watch the "Gasland" documentaries and learn about this. It is so bad, the CEO of Exxon is taking his case to court. He has 80-plus acres of land in Texas and is fighting to keep a water tower that is involved with fracking, out. He seems to be sayd, "OK in your yard, just not in mine."

Do you think he is being a hypocrite? I do; check him out on the Web. These very wealthy oil and gas drilling mongers are harming our ocean's sea creatures, still dying from the Gulf oil spill, and now decimating our land. Please show some interest and become informed.
