Hoosiers ought to rebel against the state's shenanigans that allow Gov. Pence and his administration to funnel Indiana taxpayers' money to millionaire state Rep. Eric Turner, who represents Indiana House District 32.
The Associated Press reported Tuesday that the Indiana Economic Development Council awarded $345,000 to a company owned in part by Turner to build and sell a nursing home in Terre Haute. And if that's not appalling enough, the deal will personally net Turner $1.8 million.
Stated simply, all of this exemplifies cronyism at its finest.
But that's not all of the story; it gets worse. Turner was responsible for killing a bill that would have banned construction of new nursing homes in Indiana because of the 33,000 beds that are already empty.
Turner's constituents, as well as all Hoosiers, should be outraged. Killing bills and lining one's pockets with state money, as Eric Turner does, is morally corrupt, and we Hoosiers must call him out on it. What better way to get his attention than for his constituents to use their vote this fall to boot him out of his Indiana House seat?
Bob Ashley, a Tipton-based Democrat who is opposing Turner for his legislative seat, demonstrates integrity and high ethics that apparently are beyond Turner's reach.
