SUMMITVILLE — A 17-year-old boy has been arrested and charged for allegedly raping a juvenile Marion girl.
Prosecutors charged Andrew J. Wilson with rape, a Class B felony, and criminal confinement, a Class D felony, earlier this month. He has been charged as an adult.
Madison County Sheriff Ron Richardson said Wilson turned himself in at the jail Wednesday afternoon. He was being held on $20,000 bond late Wednesday.
Few details of the alleged rape were available Wednesday evening, but Richardson said the incident happened at Wilson’s rural Summitville home in December. The girl’s age wasn’t immediately available.
Wilson could make an initial court appearance on the charges as early as today. A Class B felony is punishable by six to 20 years in prison, while a Class D felony carries a sentencing range of six months to three years.
It wasn’t known if Wilson had secured an attorney.
