ELWOOD — Three people were injured in crashes on Thursday and Friday in Madison County.
Sheriff Ron Richardson said the first happened near the intersection of Indiana 13 and 1900 North shortly before 2:30 p.m. Thursday.
Richardson said Wilma Felton, 55, Fairmount, was driving a 1997 Buick LeSabre eastbound on 1900 North when she failed to see a motorcycle driving southbound on Ind. 13.
Felton stopped at a stop sign at the intersection but then pulled out and struck a 2008 Harley-Davidson driven by Keith Ewers, 33, Anderson. Ewers suffered right leg and ankle injuries and was taken to Saint Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood.
A passenger on the motorcycle, 30-year-old Katherine Ewers, Keith’s wife, suffered cuts to her right leg and was flown to Methodist Hospital in Indianapolis. Her condition wasn’t available late Friday, but her injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
Both Ewers were wearing helmets. Felton was using a seatbelt and was uninjured.
The second crash happened at about 6:30 p.m. Friday along 1100 North, west of 100 West.
Richardson said Larry Shaffer, 53, Frankton, was driving a 1992 Geo Prizm eastbound on 1100 North when he left the road’s south side, struck a curb and a utility guide wire. The car flipped and landed on the driver’s side.
Shaffer injured his upper left leg, Richardson said, and suffered cuts and bruises. Shaffer was taken to Community Hospital, but his condition was not available late Friday. His injuries are not believed to be life-threatening. Shaffer was wearing a seatbelt.
