ANDERSON — A man faces a charge of child solicitation for allegedly showing a 7-year-old girl a pornographic movie and asking her to touch him inappropriately in August.
Pendleton officers arrested Jamie L. Decarlo, 19, Anderson, near the intersection of Indiana 38 and Indiana 67 at about 3 p.m. Tuesday.
He made an initial court appearance Wednesday on the charge, a Class D felony punishable by six months to three years in prison. He also faces an unrelated charge of possession of marijuana, a Class A misdemeanor.
According to the probable cause affidavit filed with the charge:
The 7-year-old girl told her mother on Aug. 10, 2007, Decarlo showed her a pornographic movie and his genitals, and had her pull down her pants. The girl also told her mother that Decarlo asked her to touch his genitals.
After learning of the alleged incident, the mother notified authorities.
The girl also said Decarlo showed the pornographic movie to her and one of her friends later the same day, but the second girl told investigators she saw only a horror movie.
Sheriff’s Detective Doug Beltz said Decarlo knew the girl because he is a family friend.
Decarlo, a former Pendleton resident, was being held in the Madison County Jail on $6,000 bond late Wednesday.
