9:10 p.m.: Property owners get half their tax bills

Alexandria Mayor Jack Woods said the provisional bills offer a quick fix but a long-term solution is needed.

“The cities are hurting now. Instead of making laws to pacify a few people, we need to make laws to pacify everybody. I know that’s impossible but with Alexandria not having a budget or our draws, it’s hurting like everyone,” Woods said. “Stop the quick fixes, and let’s just get this thing worked out to where we can make sure everybody benefits from it, not just a few.”
